Effective January 1, 2008, Westchester County will require Separate checks for payment of Mortgage Tax, Transfer Tax and recording fees. When submitting a purchase with mortgage, there must be 3 checks.
Checks must be in the exact amount and payable to, "The Westchester County Clerk".
To avoid papers being bounced for incorrect amounts on checks, the Clerk recommends paying through the Automated Clearing House (ACH), as described in Bulletin 332. A copy of the bulletin can be found at www.stewartnewyork.com. Agency Legal Services is available for all questions at 212-922-0050.
