Insuring Around

Dear Associates:

"Insuring around" is the issuance of a title binder or policy showing no outstanding enforceable liens while the title company knows that a lien is outstanding. "Insuring around" also occurs if we issue a title binder or policy showing a first lien when it is a second lien. Some states forbid insuring around unless we have adequate funds.

Company Policy: We do not insure around liens without Stewart underwriter approval.
